I totally agree. The fear of the unknown could be keeping someone from trying something new that could offer relief. I don’t want to live afraid. But I think we all have to come to our own conclusions about health care. For me, and you, this works. I am just hoping this blog will open people’s eyes to keep trying.

I agree, for myself it works better that way. I have blood work every 4 – 5 weeks and I see a doctor (whether it’s my family doctor or Rheumatologist) every 2 – 3 months. If there’s a problem, I have to trust that it will be discovered right away. The alternative is to be too afraid to take anything and what’s the point of that?

Christine I have been reading your book “Take me home from the Oscars” and I’m thrilled to see someone writing about Arthritis. My Grandpa had RA, I have Osteoarthritis. I was just diagnosed officially January 12, 2012. I have a name for it, but so limited on what I can take for it because of stomach surgeries in the past.
Thank You for writing this book and opening up about your struggles and the journey you have been on to keep your life “normal”. Bless your husband for being by your side and so supportive. He sounds almost as great as mine.

Looking back, my feet were one of the first things to hurt. There were times I could barely walk but it was a good 15 months later before I was diagnosed with RA.

Thank you so much for being an arthritis advocate! As an RA patient, I always worry about my children and grandchildren getting any of the autoimmune diseases. Unfortunately, one has been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease. Your speaking out will help enlighten so many more people to these diseases. Thank you so much!

Hi Christine, I cannot thank you enough for spreading the awareness of RA, we speaking of everyone that suffers from all the different forms of arthritis so desperately need someone like you to help get the word out. I’m 47yrs old, I was diagnosed 9 years ago, my RA destroyed my neck and I now have a completely fused neck, it has now progressed and is destroying the rest of my spine, my hips, and knees. I live in constant pain every day of my life, but I keep on going for my family, they are my strength and my life. I’m thankful tho for everyday of my life, and thankful that God has chosen me in an odd sort of way to have this unbearable disease cause it’s made me into the person I am today, to cherish each and everyday to the fullest. I cannot wait to read your book, and will be purchasing it this week on the way back from my rheumatologist appointment. Thank You again! Karen

HI!! Straight from Vancouver BC my name is Erin I have ankylosing spondylitis and I am 33 years old. I feel like I want to say so much to you but mostly I want to thank you for talking about RA. I struggle with the preception aspect of the disease. You can check out my blog if you ever get some time. Christine, I’m so pleased that you are representing RA and spreading awareness. I can’t thank you enough! The autoimmune arthritis community is in dire need of a celebrity spokesperson to help the public know our diseases. Especially the fact that the arthritis we have is not osteoarthritis from aging, and affects more than just our joints. I was diagnosed with RA in 2009, I figured it out on the internet after being frustrated with 2 years of my doctors calling it osteoarthritis. I knew for sure it wasn’t when I realized I had daily low grade fever. Recently a fellow RA’er read your book, loved it, and recommended it to me. I just received my copy and can’t wait to start reading! ps loved your blog post!
